This avenue gets cold when it gets dark, told the cab driver "dont wait we' rather walk" Your mood is changing like the patterns on your couch your still telling lies about being from the south. your moving like the boxes out of your parents house to an apartment downtown with a better view the sound of click-clackin' and the shufflin' of shoes and the chance to meet people that you never knew but don't ask me where we go because i don't know, no one knows. and don't put your head down on that table no more unroll the bill, and roll yourself back home. who knew a year later you'd be crashing in your car? who knew when your a junkie its so hard to get a job? now your blowing from town to town like the trash thats on the street it sticks to my shoe and i kick it with my feet. But it starts inside a person, and builds from when theyre young like that day at your parents barbeque, they said he was a friend but he didnt have to touch you, or be so rough and thats the reason why you sleep alone tonight so don't ask me where we go, cause how the fuck am i supposed to know? and Sarah, dont put your head down on that table no more unroll the bill and roll yourself back home.

There's a darkness speaking to an old broken down chevy, and a line that gets crossed when no one is listening, and your in the backseat with your head in your hands, moving your lips to the radio as the sun sets and I've been counting my cousins and my friends that are missin' the years that keep rolling and the broken transmissions, and the wasted summers, and the broken boards all the songs I meant to write, but I never found the words Caroline make sure you leave your light on tonight, Cause I'm coming over, and I'm through playing nice don't act your age, don't act so tough because I know you better than you know yourself. And I've been sleeping on the sidewalk for so long that a bed just seems too cold to sleep in now, and i remember you writing something on the frost on your windshield but the snows all melted, and I'm done dreaming. Caroline make sure you leave your light on tonight, Cause I'm coming over, and I'm through playing nice don't act your age, don't act so tough because I know you better than you know yourself.

Every day you take the bus home, And you work it out, your working all night for some people that you don't know will those pills put you to sleep tonight? and the moneys good it pays the rent and a drink or two can sooth the guilt about how nobody knew where you went when you left two years ago It just gets so hard to breathe sometimes when the smoke it fills the room, and the change it flies and it just gets so hard to breathe sometimes when your still in bed, drinking yourself to death little girl you know ive been there too but im strumming six strings singin' about you to a crowd of people that i know, in the basement at a local show and i wonder if you think of me, when your on stage the musics playing, and i wonder if i'll ever see your face again. It just gets so hard to breathe sometimes, when the smoke it fills your lungs, and the change it flies and it just gets so hard to breathe sometimes when your still in bed, drinking yourself to death. but we rock, we rock through the minutes till' the lights go down, and theyre goin' down.

No Friends 03:52
Well the wind blows colder on this side of town, when your name blows with it its a cold dead sound Connie, i'm callin' won't you lift this curse off of me? and i've been working so hard just to make a dime, whiskey stains on your sheets show you've got nothing but time but Connie i'm callin' wont you take me home? And the winters get so fucking cold that I'm thinking about making a coffin for a home because at least in heaven i can sit down. And on these streets i see so many men and im sure that they've all shared your bed and i know how warm it gets in there, but how cold and dead you are.
